Professor Liu is a nationally recognized scholar in the areas of education and constitutional law at the University of California Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall), where he has taught since 2003. He was born in Augusta, Georgia, where his parents were living as doctors recruited from Taiwan to work in underserved areas. He received his undergraduate degree from Stanford University, was a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University, and received his law degree from Yale University School of Law. Professor Liu’s interest in public service and the law was sparked when he served as a page in the U.S. House of Representatives, thanks to the sponsorship of the late Congressman Robert Matsui.
